Finally breaking through and getting their lone win of the year against Cal to snap a 20-game losing streak gave some small reason for optimism, but a lot of work still remains.
Oddsmakers do not have high hopes for a massive turnaround in Tucson this year, and Wildcat fans should manage expectations for a schedule that begins with a tough non-conference slate.
On today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I examine the 2022 football schedule for the Arizona Wildcats.
Opening with San Diego St, Mississippi State, and FCS powerhouse South Dakota St is far from a cakewalk to begin the season.
Finding one win in those three games would be a great start for Jedd Fisch and the wildcats in Year Two, but that will require a higher level of football than they showed in 2021.
Arizona has certainly made some notable roster additions this offseason both in recruiting and via the transfer portal, but they are still a year or two away from being able to consistently win conference games.
That reality makes it hard to look at the schedule right now and find a lot of wins in 2022.
The goal for the Wildcats should be improvement on a year-to-year basis, meaning a multi-win season would be a step forward for Jedd Fisch and his staff.
