This round of conference realignment is still waiting on its final domino from the Pac-12 with whatever media deal and expansion move they end up going with.
As college football (and basketball) plays out in the coming years, there are several programs to keep an eye on to see if they elevate their brands to grab the attention of Power 5 conferences—most notably, the Big 12 and the Pac-12.
On today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I also talk about the often-discussed “blue chip ratio” which indicates only two Pac-12 schools could win a national championship this year (Oregon and USC).
It does not mean, however, that only those two schools could win the Pac-12 and get to the College Football Playoff.
The Big Ten has made it clear they don’t want to add any more west coast schools at this time beyond USC and UCLA.
If the B1G came for just two more schools and not four, could there be a path forward for the Pac at that time if they’ve added San Diego State and SMU?
