By R.J. Abeytia, USCFootball.com: We’ve seen plenty to like from USC over the course of 13 spring practices. The Trojans wrap up camp with practices on Friday and Saturday with the media present at the penultimate session only.
During our observation periods, we’ve seen a deeper USC team than we’ve seen at any point in the Lincoln Riley Era. We’ve seen a clear focus on special teams and players who view the third phase as a true opportunity and not just a chore relegated to lesser talents. The teaching has been concise and focused. Over the course of our observations it’s always been obvious what a coach wanted to get out of a drill, from safeties coach Paul Gonzales to linebackers/special teams coach Mike Ekeler to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Luke Huard and the rest of the staff.
