By Daniel Libit, Sportico: A few months into the House v. NCAA settlement era, public institutions appear to have adopted a unified response to inquiries into the money they’re paying athletes: none of your business.
That was not entirely unexpected. Schools had taken a similar posture in the last several years when it came to disclosing information about athlete NIL deals.
Six weeks ago, I argued this practice of revenue-sharing opacity should be challenged by none other than college athletes and their free-market advocates. (You can read some of my other lamentations on transparency in college sports here, here, and here.)
