D ismantling Oregon elevated the Utes to the top team in the Pac-12, but not the top team in the West.

That distinction now belongs to BYU, which has defeated Utah, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington State, and now gets a crack at USC on Saturday.

Pac-12The Utes have punched their ticket to the Pac-12 Championship game, and have their sights set on a first-ever Rose Bowl bid.

Utah State drops out of the Top 10 after a loss to Wyoming, and Air Force jumps in after edging out Nevada.

So how do West Coast college football teams stack up this week? I’ve listed my Top 10 in reverse order below.

It all could change again this weekend, and I’ll update these rankings then.

10. Nevada (7-4)

The bad news is Nevada lost a close game to Air Force 41-39 last weekend.

The good news is the Wolf Pack travels to Fort Collins this weekend, looking to rebound against 3-8 Colorado State.

9. Air Force (8-3)

Air Force beat Nevada 41-39 in a close game, and it earned them a spot in the top ten.

Up next, the Falcons host 2-9 UNLV in what should be a sure win.

8. Arizona State (7-4)

The Sun Devils continued their up-and-down season with a 24-10 loss to Oregon State.

Arizona State faces a struggling Arizona team this week, and figures to walk away with an easy victory.

7. Oregon State (7-4)

Oregon State handled Arizona State 24-10 in Corvallis last Saturday, going undefeated at home for the first time since 2000.

The Beavers now face an angry Oregon team coming off an embarrassing loss to Utah.

They’ll be hoping for WSU to lose to Washington on Friday; that, combined with an upset of the Ducks, would give OSU the North Division title.

6. UCLA (7-4)

UCLA blew out USC 62-33 last weekend, putting up the most points the Bruins have scored in the history of the rivalry, and moving up three spots in my Top 10.

On Saturday, UCLA plays a revitalized Cal team, fresh off a beat-down of Stanford.

5. Fresno State (8-3)

The Bulldogs had a bye last week and will return to action against San Jose State on Thursday night.

4. Oregon (9-2)

Oregon Ducks Logo Pac-12Oregon drops three spots after Utah put a 38-7 beating on them.

The Ducks hope to rebound against Oregon State on Saturday, looking for a third-straight appearance in the Pac-12 Championship game, and a rematch with the Utes.

3. San Diego State (10-1)

The Aztecs stay at three after only beating the lowly UNLV Revels 28-20.

Up next, San Diego State hosts 7-4 Boise State on Friday night, looking to stay on top of the West Division of the Mountain West.

2. Utah (8-3)

Utah humiliated Oregon 38-7 last Saturday, dominating the Ducks in all three phases.

The Utes shouldn’t have any trouble keeping their momentum going this week in Salt Lake City against Colorado.

1. BYU (9-2)

BYU takes over the top spot in the West with a 34-17 win over Georgia Southern.

Next, the Cougars have a chance to go a perfect 5-0 against the Pac-12 with a victory over the hapless Trojans in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
