Some of the 58,795 fans in attendance — about five thousand more than the capacity of Mountain America Stadium — either loudly clanked cowbells or threw tortillas.
The second-year head coach anticipated what it would take to win in an intense setting, due to his experiences at major programs such as Auburn, Florida State and Oregon — all college towns where they importance of football dwarfs everything else in the community.
