By Chris Karpman, Sun Devil Source: Longtime Saint Mary’s head coach Randy Bennett is in serious discussions with Arizona State about its coaching vacancy, two people familiar with the development told Sun Devil Source.
Bennett, 63, a native of Mesa, Arizona, is one of the country’s most successful mid-major head coaches this century. He has led the Gaels to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 12 of his 25 seasons as head coach at the school. His overall head coaching record is 589-228 (.721) and his West Coast Conference record is 304-99 (.754), with wins in more than three-quarters of the conference games in which he’s coached. He’s been named WCC Coach of the Year seven times, including four times in a row between 2022-25.
