By Carter Bahns, 247Sports: Michigan State made an early move on the 2023 college football coaching carousel, tabbing Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith as its next head coach. Smith, who built his alma mater’s program from the ground up and into a national contender, makes his Big Ten coaching debut with the Spartans as a highly-touted pickup for the program.
Smith, the 2022 Pac-12 Co-Coach of the Year, possesses a 34-35 record as a head coach but went 18-7 over the last two seasons.
