By Nick Kosko, 247Sports: Back in September, USC fired Clay Helton and Penn State head coach James Franklin was immediately pegged as a candidate to take over the Trojans.
 As the coaching search continues, Pac-12 insider John Canzano of the Oregonian reported Sunday that Franklin is at the top of the list for USC entering mid-October.
