By Dan Morrison, On3: The UTEP Miners have finally come to a decision in their quarterback battle. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, former USC and Boise State quarterback Malachi Nelson will be their starter for the 2025 season.
Coming out of high school at Los Alamitos in California, Nelson was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023. He was the 11th-ranked recruit overall in that recruiting cycle and the fifth-ranked quarterback. Despite that, it hasn’t been an easy journey throughout his college career.
