Former Coug RB Derek Sparks, a tireless advocate for others, taken by cancer

By CougFancom staff: Derek Sparks, the former Washington State running back and offensive MVP of the 1994 Apple Cup, has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, it was reported by King5 TV’s Chris Egan and others on Tuesday.

Personable and outgoing, Sparks was diagnosed this summer with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
