By UCLA Athletics: Junior shortstop Matt McLain was selected with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday evening.
At No. 17, McLain becomes the highest-picked UCLA position player since Chase Utley was taken No. 15 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 draft.
