By Chris Karpman, Sun Devil Source: In recent weeks, Arizona State has emerged as a serious contender in the recruitment of 6-foot-8 defensive end Elijah Russell out of Ocala, Florida.
Russell picked up his third Power 5 scholarship offer from the Sun Devils on April 13 and on Saturday set an official visit to Tempe for the weekend of June 11. It will be the first time he’s traveled to the West.
“It was such a fast pace,” Russell said of how things progressed with ASU. “I was talking to (defensive line) coach [Robert Rodriguez]. My head coach texted me like, ‘Call this number right now.’ Then coach Rod texted me the same and I called him away.
