By Jake Sloan, SunDevil Source: Arizona State allowed 345 total yards against Mississippi State, with 153 coming on three plays. Senior quarterback Blake Shapen’s three touchdown passes were all at least 45 yards, as ASU’s aggressive approach backfired on all three plays.
Head coach Kenny Dillingham said that in retrospect, he would have rather been playing Cover 2 in those situations. But Dillingham did not vocalize such sentiments before the sequences to his coordinator, Brian Ward, with the aggressive calls significantly contributing to ASU’s demise in its 24-20 loss against the Bulldogs.
