By Michael McCann, Sportico via Yahoo Sports:University of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders appears to have taken a page from his days as an NFL player—and an NFLPA union member—by telling his student players they face monetary fines for failing to attend practice ($2,500), missing film sessions ($2,000), being late to practice ($500) and other fumbling of their work responsibilities.
“Work” is a crucial word. The penalty schedule, revealed in a team meeting earlier in January, could become evidence in legal efforts to recognize power conference football players as employees.
