By Raymond Lucas Jr., Cardinal 247: After 12 years as Stanford’s head coach, David Shaw stepped down from the position following the Cardinal’s Saturday evening 35-26 loss to BYU. Shaw compiled a record of 96-54 during his time in Palo Alto after succeeding Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh who departed to coach the San Francisco 49ers.
Shaw played wide receiver during his time as a student-athlete at Stanford and while he stepped down, he was sure to emphasize that his decision isn’t a retirement.
