As a voter for the Pac-12 Players of the Week, my choices may occasionally differ from the official selections.
Either way, I want to share my picks and give brief explanations of why I voted the way I did for the Freshman and Player of the Week.
Either way, I want to share my picks and give brief explanations of why I voted the way I did for the Freshman and Player of the Week.
My Summaries appear below.
Player of the Week — Jaime Jaquez Jr, UCLA

My vote for Player of the Week came down to UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. and ASU’s Desmond Cambridge Jr.
I gave the nod to Jaquez based on his performance against Oregon. The matchup with the Ducks was one of the biggest games of the year in the Pac-12 and his 25-point night deserves recognition.
Jaquez also had 12 rebounds against Oregon State earlier in the week and the Bruin senior’s production came against stronger opponents than Cambridge.
Freshman Player of the Week — Jordan Pope, Oregon State

The vote for Freshman Player of the Week was a tough one. My choice came down to Amari Bailey and Jordan Pope.
I went with Pope because he had a more consistent week against two quality opponents. He averaged 16.5 points per game against the L.A. schools and Bailey only had eight against Oregon.
Pope went 5-for-10 from three over the two games, as well, with Bailey posting a 0-for-3 mark from deep. Although the UCLA freshman posted a career-high against the Beavers, I rewarded the consistency of Pope with my vote.
