Crawford: USC among 'most overrated teams in preseason Top 25' since 2010

By Brad Crawford, 247Sports: Preseason expectations from those outside of the program are flattering, but college football coaches prefer flying under the radar more than hype, which is why the upcoming top 25 release ahead of the 2024 season is like rat poison for some. Teams can fold under pressure or use the momentum for top-tier finishes, many of which will lead to playoff berths in the expansion era.

Looking back at various preseason AP rankings since 2010, there are 10 programs with at least four unranked finishes after being ranked in August. Many of these are blue bloods and recruiting powerhouses that seem to always get the benefit of the doubt while others once led summer narratives as sexy dark horses. Could Ole Miss fall victim to that praise this season?
