By Chris Murray, Nevada Sports Net: The Mountain West added North Dakota State as a football-only affiliate today, and it would not be a shock if the Bison were the best team in the conference in its first season in the league (it won’t, however, be eligible to play for the MW title until 2028). North Dakota State was higher ranked in the Sagarin rankings than any team in last year’s MW or Pac-12.

I used the Sagarin rankings because it ranks FCS schools alongside FBS programs unlike other popular advanced metric systems (FPI, SP+, Massey, etc.). North Dakota State has won 10 of the last 15 FCS national titles and regularly been competitive against FBS schools.
