And rarely have fans seen as many meaningful games scattered across various schedules within the Power conference ranks with the expanded playoff set to add tremendous intrigue to the regular season.
No two-loss team ever reached the playoff, but that changes with seven at-large bids up for grabs behind the five automatic qualifiers. With expansion leading the conversation across the SEC and Big Ten, two leagues that make up half of the preseason top 25, and unpredictability expected within the ACC and Big 12, every weekend features multiple must-see matchups dripping with postseason implications.
The trend of Week 1 showdowns returns with a host of ranked games planned for the first full weekend of action, including Georgia-Clemson, USC-LSU and Notre Dame at Texas A&M, among others. Those will respective narratives moving forward with the rest of September equally appetizing.
