By Cody Nagel, CBS Sports: Returning starters remain one of the most commonly cited benchmarks of offseason expectations as college football’s preview magazine season approaches. We published our own returning starters breakdown for all 138 FBS teams in late March, offering a snapshot of which programs bring back the most first-team experience from the 2025 season. While that metric still provides a useful baseline for roster continuity, it doesn’t capture the role of depth and high-usage contributors outside the starting 11 on offense and defense.
Returning snaps helps fill in that gap.
