By Brad Crawford, 247Sports: Reporting at SEC and Pac-12 preseason media functions suggests college football’s realignment era and expansion rush nears its end. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey told 247Sports this week at SEC Media Days that further expansion within his conference would be a logistical nightmare and he does not see his league moving beyond 16 teams.
He gave several explanations for why he will not pursue further expansion after Oklahoma and Texas join the conference in 2024.
