By Joe Vitale, Athlon Sports: According to ESPN college football insider Heather Dinich, the College Football Playoff, which is expanding to a 12-team format in 2024, is considering a new approach as to how it will select its participants.
Nearly a year ago, a 6+6 format was approved, meaning the six highest-ranked conference champions (Power Five + Group of Five) would receive a spot in the playoff, plus the six highest-ranked at large teams.
