By Cody Nagel, 247Sports: The third installment of the College Football Playoff rankings in the expanded 12-team format released Tuesday night, sparking debate about the evaluations and decisions made by the selection committee. While the top-five teams remained unchanged entering Week 13, the rest of the bracket saw considerable reshuffling, creating plenty of discussion.
BYU and Tennessee saw the steepest declines in the updated rankings, with their tumbles prompting movement among other playoff hopefuls. This shakeup left the selection committee facing more questions about their criteria and rationale for the latest adjustments in the College Football Playoff Top 25 with just three weeks remaining until Selection Sunday.
The playoff selection committee is under new leadership this year as Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel takes the position as the new chair. After the updated rankings were released, Manuel took questions from reporters to explain the thought process and evaluations behind the new order.
