By Shehan Jeyarajah, CBS Sports: The College Football Playoff’s Board of Managers on Friday voted to expand the playoff field to 12 teams beginning in 2026, according to multiple reports.
The vote is an important first step in pushing the playoff beyond the four-team format. The CFP’s active contract with ESPN ends at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
