The College Football Playoff selection committee will have a steady helping of results to factor into their metrics during the 2026 season, thanks to a schedule filled with marquee non-conference and important league matchups pitting nationally-ranked teams — or at least those perceived as threats seven months out.
Stacking as many quality wins and head-to-head results as possible is paramount to building a successful playoff argument, part of the reason Notre Dame failed to make the dance last fall.
