The Bootleg: Culture is the new Holy Grail in coaching. It’s the talking point that every coach turns to when assessing goals, when evaluating a program, or when describing success. When good things happen, coaches love to pivot to the ‘culture.’
That’s the priority when a staff arrives and it becomes the foundation for whatever happens afterward. Because it has such a strong currency, you have to be very careful as an outsider when assessing the extent to which true culture has actually been established and the extent to which players have bought in to said culture.
