Cal 9th, Stanford 17th in 247Sports ACC football preseason power rankings

By Cody Nagel, 247Sports: Much of the ACC faces a critical 2024 college football season with one, maybe two, spots in the expanded playoff up for grabs. The new-look league had just four teams in the preseason AP Top 25 rankings — Clemson, Florida State, Miami and NC State — the lowest number among the Power Four conferences.

There is a clearcut top tier in the ACC, which now has 17 members following expansion. But how does the rest of the league fall in order with kickoff less than two weeks away?

The additions of California, SMU and Stanford provide a new dynamic of cross-country travel within the ACC as some teams are set to rack up more than 10,000 miles for road games in 2024. How will that affect the race for a conference title and automatic bid in the College Football Playoff?
