By Brett McMurphy, Action Network: Only four weeks remain in the regular season, and already there are 45 bowl-eligible teams for the 82 spots.
There are another 26 five-win teams needing one win shy of joining the party, so it appears the bowl system should have enough six-win teams to fill all the spots.
On Tuesday night, the initial College Football Playoff selection committee rankings will be released to provide an early — but totally meaningless peek — look into how they rank the teams.
