By Carter Bahns, 247Sports: The Big Ten was not always at the forefront of college football’s best quarterback leagues in recent years, but the conference boasts four of the top Heisman Trophy contenders in 2024 with Dillon Gabriel, Kurtis Rourke, Will Howard and Drew Allar all enjoying a breakout season. Those four represent the top tier of signal-caller play in the 18-team conference, but there are a number of quarterbacks outside that group who also shined over the campaign’s first 12 weeks.
Teams and players essentially are who they are by mid-November, so now is the best time thus far in 2024 to assess the Big Ten’s quarterback play. The sample size is large enough to grade first-year starters like Dylan Raiola and Aidan Chiles and to determine whether breakout seasons like that of Luke Altmyer are legitimate or fool’s gold.
Not every team has a star under center, but the majority received serviceable-to-excellent play from the most important position on the roster across two and a half months of football.
