By Brad Crawford: Many quality former college football head coaches are largely unemployed heading into the 2023 season, which could make for quite a bit of coaching carousel drama later this fall. Depending on the number of jobs that come open, many of these respected winners may be in the mix for a return to the sideline thanks to their respective resumes — if they’re ready for work.
All of these coaches actively led a program within the last five years and are not assumed to be in retirement. That’s subjective, sure, but stay with us. For transparency, some of these “unemployed” coaches are serving in offensive or defensive analyst positions this season, but none hold an assistant or head-coaching role.
