Week 2 in the NFL saw some phenomenal performances from players who played collegiately in the West.
Each week, we highlight the best NFL performances from former SuperWest players.
Given the high interest in newcomers from the West to the League, I also summarize the stats of some notable pro rookies who didn’t make the main list.
Top NFL Performances
1. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/Cal
Goff threw for 334 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions for a 156.0 passer rating in the Lions dismantling of the Bears.
The former Cal Bear became the fifth player in NFL history with at least four career games with at least 300 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and a passer rating of 150-or-higher.
2. Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers/Stanford
The former Cardinal star capped off week two with 107 scrimmage yards—55 rushing and 52 receiving—on five receptions, one of them a TD.
With the TD reception he became just the third player in NFL history with at least 50 rushing touchdowns and 30 touchdown receptions, joining Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and Lenny Moore.
3. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Lions/USC
The former Trojan connected with Goff all afternoon in the 52-21 win over Chicago.St. Brown caught nine passes for 115 yards and three TDs. The three TD receptions were the most he has ever had in a game in his NFL career.
He also ran the ball twice for seven yards.
4. Puka Nacua, WR, Rams/BYU
Puka Nacua had eight receptions for 91 yards and a 45-yard rushing touchdown in the road win
The former Cougar has 202 career receptions and became the second player in NFL history with at least 200 receptions in his first 30 games, joining Odell Beckham.
His 2,697 career receiving yards are the third most in NFL history through 30 career games played.
5. Carl Granderson, DE, Saints/Wyoming
Granderson continues his hot start to the 2025 season for New Orleans. The former UW star had
In the loss to San Francisco, he tallied seven total stops and had three total TFLs, and was a consistent presence in the backfield with three additional hits on Mac Jones.
6. Jake Browning, QB, Bengals/Washington
Browning came on in relief for Joe Burrow and brought the Bengals back for a week two win over
The former Husky threw for 241 yards and a couple of TDs and added a game-winning sneak for a TD with 18 seconds left.
The job is his for the next three months as Burrow recovers from toe surgery.
7. Daiyan Henley, LB, Chargers/Washington State
The former Cougar led the Chargers with 10 total tackles, including two tackles for loss in the win
He also added two passes defended, including an interception and a key sack in the fourth quarter, ending any hope for the Raiders to mount a comeback.
8. Fred Warner, LB, 49ers/BYU
Warner led the 49ers with 11 total tackles, including one tackle for a loss.The former Cougar also came up big in coverage in the Niners’ win over the Saints.
Warner recorded a pass defended and forced a fumble in the win.
9. Rome Odunze, WR, Bears/Washington
Chicago struggled in Ben Johnson’s return to Detroit, but the former Husky produced his best
In the loss, Odunze hauled in seven receptions for 128 yards, both figures establishing new career highs for the second-year wideout.
He also found the endzone twice, also equaling a career high for TDs in a game.
10. Davante Adams, WR, Rams/Fresno State
Davante Adams had six receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown in the Rams’ win over the
The former Fresno State route runner now has 33 career games with at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown reception, tied for the fifth most such outings in the NFL since 1970.
11. Troy Franklin, WR, Broncos/Oregon
Could this have been the coming-out party for the former Duck star?In the loss in Indianapolis, Franklin had his best statistical game of his career by far. He finished the afternoon with eight receptions for 89 yards and a TD.
Both the receptions and yards totals are new career highs by a good margin. His best statistical outing of his rookie season was five catches for 50 yards.
12. Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Panthers/Arizona (R)
The rookie wide receiver caught six passes for 100 yards in Carolina’s loss to the Cardinals.
The former Wildcat star returned to Arizona and picked up like he was back in college recording his first NFL career 100-yard game.
Notable Rookie Performances
- Cam Skattebo, RB, Giants/Arizona State—11 carries for 45 yards, scored first career NFL touchdown
- Dillon Gabriel, QB, Browns/Oregon—Replaced Flacco in the fourth quarter, went 3/3 for 19 yards, threw first NFL touchdown pass and passer rating of 132.6
