It was another good week for several former SuperWest players.
Each week I highlight the Top 10 performances of West Coast school alums in our coverage footprint.
Here are my choices for Week 8.
Top 10 NFL Performers
1. Bo Nix, QB, Broncos/Oregon
Bo Nix had the best game of his career as he threw for 284 yards and three TDs while
All those figures were career highs.
He added a TD on the ground as the Broncos doubled up the Panthers 28-14.
2. Trey McBride, TE, Cardinals/Colorado State
The former Rams TE enjoyed National Tight End Day with a nine-reception, 124-yard performance in Arizona’s win at Miami.
He became the third tight end in NFL history with at least five receptions in eight consecutive road games.
The other two are Travis Kelce and former Cal great and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez—not too shabby of company.
3. Khalil Shakir, WR, Bills/Boise State
The Bills were comfortable winners in Seattle on Sunday and Shakir enjoyed his trip back to the northwest.
The former Bronco led Buffalo with nine receptions and 107 yards.
4. Puka Nacua, WR, Rams/BYU
Nacua had a productive evening in Thursday’s upset over the Vikings in just his second game of the season.
The former BYU wideout caught seven of the nine passes thrown his way for 106 yards.
He also added five yards on the ground.
5. Zach Ertz, TE, Commanders/Stanford
On a day when the offense was sputtering for rookie QB Jayden Daniels and Washington, the veteran TE proved to be a steady weapon.
Ertz had the ground knock out a potential TD catch but still finished the afternoon with seven catches for 77 yards.
6. Bobby Okereke, LB, Giants/Stanford
New York fell to Pittsburgh on Monday Night, but the former Cardinal shined under the bright lights.
Okereke ended up with 14 total tackles and forced a fumble.
7. Cade Otton, TE, Buccaneers/Washington
Cade Otton had himself a game against the Falcons.
The Bucs may have fallen to Atlanta, but Otton did all he could to reverse that outcome.
The former Husky caught nine balls for 81 yards with a pair of TDs.
8. Budda Baker, S, Cardinals/Washington
Baker led the way for the Cardinals defense in their comeback win over Miami.
The former Washington DB collected 12 tackles to lead Arizona in that category.
He also had one stop in the backfield and a pass defended.
9. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/Cal
Goff’s numbers were down this week because he did not play much in the Lions dismantling of the Jaguars.
He was efficient when he was in, completing 12 of 15 passes with three TDs.
Goff recorded a 129.9 passer rating on Sunday and became the third player in NFL history with a passer rating of 125 or higher in four consecutive games.
10. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers/Oregon
Herbert threw for 200+ yards for the third straight game after failing to do so in his first four games of the season.
The former Duck ended the day against the Saints with 279 yards through the air and a couple of passing TDs to go along with 49 yards on the ground.
Other Notable Performances
• Gardner Minshew, QB, Raiders/Washington State — 117.9 rating with 80% completion for 209 yards and a TD.
• Josh Allen, QB, Bills/Wyoming — 283 yards and a TD while completing 70.6%.
• Daiyan Henley, LB, Chargers/Washington State — 11 tackles and a PD.
