Zemek: Is Utah's Devon Dampier really the best quarterback in the Big 12?

By Matt Zemek, BYU Cougars on SI: BYU football fans have every right to think that Bear Bachmeier is or will be the best quarterback in the Big 12 in 2026, especially with Brendan Sorsby being highly unlikely to take the field for Texas Tech. More than that, BYU fans would certainly think Utah does not have the best quarterback in the Big 12. Yet, Big 12 football analyst Brandon Judd of The Deseret News puts Devon Dampier No. 1 among quarterbacks in the conference:

“Dampier burst onto the scene last year in Salt Lake City after transferring from New Mexico and earned Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors as the best true dual-threat quarterback in the conference,” Judd wrote.
