By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: Washington State quarterback Zevi Eckhaus has received a pair of honors, one for his efforts on the field, and another for his efforts on the field and in the classroom. It was announced on Tuesday that Eckhaus is the recipient of the Dolph Schayes Outstanding Performance by a Jewish Athlete Award, and on Wednesday, he was named the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2025 football season.
“We are very excited and honored to be presenting the Dolph Schayes Award to Zevi,” said Alan Freedman, Director of the Jewish Sports Heritage Association. “He’s an amazing example of athletic accomplishment in a sports not often associated with the Jewish people. He shows the public that Jewish people can achieve in sports today, and that this is not just a thing of the past.”
