247Sports: Prior to the 2020 college football season, AP, poll voters were asked to “consider all Division I teams when filling out their ballots.” The top-25 AP preseason poll included teams from all conferences, even teams whose conference had not yet decided to play a fall season.
The AP’s original plan was to have voters only rank teams that are scheduled to play. Since the Big Ten, Pac-12, and Mountain West conferences have since reversed course and announced a fall football season, it appears the AP is reversing course on its poll policy as well.
