Washington is taking a new approach to building its special teams

By Roman Tomashoff, Huskies Wire: For a lot of teams across the country, building special teams can be a bit of an afterthought. Under Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff, the Washington Huskies have taken a different approach to building the overlooked, but often critical aspect of the game.

Special teams coordinator Jordan Paopao earned the commitment of 2026 St. John Bosco kicker CJ Wallace in April, added Colorado long snapper Cameron Warchuck from the transfer portal, and has been aggressive at handing out offers to specialists in an attempt to build for the future.
