By Hunter Cookston, Sporting News: The spring transfer portal officially opened on Wednesday, and one of the top names in the portal is former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. His departure from the program has been one of the messiest exits in recent memory. According to reports, Iamaleava’s camp was quietly exploring opportunities for more money, prompting a school to alert Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel about the situation.
Iamaleava has been at the center of the Vols’ program since he arrived on campus. Last season marked his first year as the starting quarterback, but his performance didn’t quite live up to fans’ expectations.
