USC football faces uncertainty in secondary ahead of Washington trip

By R.J. Abeytia, USCFootball.com: USC worked its way through the win against Rutgers with a skeleton crew of defensive backs. Jacobe Covington, Kamari Ramsey, Jaylin Smith and Greedy Vance Jr. all missed last week’s 42-20 victory over the Scarlet Knights. USC gave up yards in the air but tightened up in the red zone. D’Anton Lynn and Doug Belk‘s makeshift secondary survived an uninspiring Rutgers passing attack.

Now comes Washington. The Huskies lack the big Penix energy they used to fuel a run to the College Football Playoff final. This season Jedd Fisch’s squad has the No. 87 offense (points per drive).

USC faces secondary uncertainty ahead of Washington trip

USC is hopeful it gets some of its secondary pieces back in Seattle. The Trojans will need them in order to notch their first conference road win of 2024.
