By Carter Bahns, 247Sports: One of the biggest non-conference games of the 2024 college football season significantly altered the early Heisman Trophy race. Quinn Ewers is the new betting favorite to win the sport’s highest individual honor after he and Texas throttled Michigan in the Big House, winning the battle between two of last year’s four Playoff teams. The convincing win helped Ewers round out his résumé with terrific individual numbers and high-end team success — the most straightforward formula to win the Heisman.
Ewers’ climb to pole position was far more a factor of his outstanding play than the performances of the other contenders. Star Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (who is up to nine touchdowns in two weeks) and others were terrific in their own rights during Week 2 action and did nothing to hurt their candidacy.
The campaign is still extremely young, and the Heisman odds at FanDuel Sportsbook will continue to fluctuate over the coming months. It is still anyone’s trophy, though a clear upper tier emerged in the season’s first couple of weeks.
