By Jackson Moore, Inside The Spartans: The new San Jose State football coaching staff has had a busy offseason luring in recruits to fill out the 2024 football roster. For one Spartan commit from the transfer portal, it did not take much convincing.
Offensive lineman Tyler Chen may be transferring from another time zone out of Weber State, but there are two very familiar aspects awaiting him at SJSU: He grew up in Santa Clara and he played in 2023 for Utah Tech, where now-Spartan offensive coordinator Craig Stutzmann had installed his spread-n-shred offense the year prior.
