If there was ever an indication of the changing landscape of college athletics and what it will look like in the NIL era, you need look no further than these All-America teams.
They’re filled with seniors. And some of the tough decisions left off are also seniors and upperclassmen.
First Team SuperWest All-America
Oscar Tshiebwe | Kentucky |Â Senior Forward
Tshiebwe averaged 17.4 points and 15.1 rebounds a year ago and had seven games with at least 20 points and 15 rebounds. He was the National Player of the Year in 2022.
Last year he became the first player to average at least 15 points and 15 rebounds per game since Lewis Lloyd of Drake and Larry Smith of Alcorn State each did so in 1979-80.
Armando Bacot | North Carolina | Senior Forward/Center
Bacot led the Tar Heels to the national championship game last March with a double-double in all eight of his postseason games last spring. He is averaging an impressive 15.1 points and 15.5 rebounds in the ACC and NCAA Tournaments.
For his career thus far, he is one of two Tar Heels in the last 50 seasons and eight all-time to average a double-double in points and rebound, averaging 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in 100 games.
Drew Timme | Gonzaga | Senior Forward
In the last two seasons, Timme has shot an unbelievable 62.1 percent from the field. The senior has averaged 18.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while helping Gonzaga to a 59-5 record during that time.
Last season Timme averaged 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in helping lead the Bulldogs to the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament last season.
Marcus Sasser | Houston | Senior Guard
Sasser missed the final two-thirds of the season with a left foot injury.Prior to the injury, he was the Cougars leading scorer averaging 17.7 points per game in addition to 2.6 assists per game.
Sasser averaged just over 2.0 steals per game prior to his injury. He is healthy this season and ready to regain the form he had early in the 2021-22 season.
Trayce Jackson-Davis | Indiana | Senior Forward
Jackson-Davis averaged 18.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks last season for the Hoosiers. He averaged 1.23 blocked shots per foul committed. Some improved talent and shooting around him should increase his production while easing up on the individual pressures.
Second Team SuperWest All-America
Hunter Dickinson | Michigan | Junior Center
Caleb Love | North Carolina | Junior Guard
Jaime Jaquez Jr. | UCLA | Senior Guard/Forward
Ryan Kalkbrenner | Creighton | Junior Center
Adama Sanogo | Connecticut | Junior Forward
