On Thursday, Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reported the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12, the three members of the Alliance, have proposed a new option for College Football Playoff expansion.
The 12-team format would give automatic bids to every Power Five champion and the top Group of Five team, hence the “5+1” name.
