Sun Devil Source: According to the National Weather Service, no single month in Phoenix history was hotter than August 2020, when temperatures soared well into triple-digits, the latest 115-degree day on record took place and the average daily temperature was a scorching 99.1 degrees.
Remarkably, the city’s previous hottest month ever was this July, with an average daily temperature of 98.9 degrees, a short-lived record that had stood since such data collection started in 1896.
