That’s partly what makes the retirement of Nick Saban so unique for Alabama, a program that’s won six national championships since 2009 and was a perennial top-three team under his watch. Saban hands over the Crimson Tide’s torch to Washington’s Kalen DeBoer in a new era defined by the transfer portal and NIL in hopes the university’s new coaching staff doesn’t miss a beat.
