By James Crepea, The Oregonian/OregonLive: The “major fundraising announcement” Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes referenced in a letter to fans last month was regarding a long planned facilities project.
OSU has been planning its Field Sports Building — which will be the new home for the Beavers men’s and women’s soccer, track and field, cross country and softball teams — for several years. Donations for the $25 million project have been secured and construction of the 15,000-square-foot facility, which will be located adjacent to Kelly Field, Whyte Track & Field Center and Lorenz Field, will begin in July.
