By Erik Skopil, Duck Territory: Oregon defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter wants to find the best fit for every position in every package on defense. To help do so, the Ducks will spend much of the spring “job swapping”, as he put it. That means Oregon’s defenders will be moving around a fair amount to help determine who fits best where.
“We’re going to have outside backers who are going to be defensive linemen and vice-versa,” he told reporters. “We’re going to have safeties who are going to be edge players. We’ll have edge players who will be overhang players. I think that’s healthy.”
