By Will Backus, CBS Sports: If you count Week 0 as the start of the college football season — and this writer does — the 2026 campaign is a little more than eight months away. The College Football Playoff National Championship, which saw Indiana win its first national title in program history, was played less than a week ago.
But if there’s one adage that always holds true in this sport, even amid a sea of change, it’s that it’s never too early to look ahead. Offseason is the time when fans huff hopium to convince themselves that this is, in fact, the year for their favorite team.
