We’re handling our CFB Player of the Week selections a little differently this year with the responsibility for making the selections falling squarely on my shoulders.
I do my best to be objective each week, basing my picks on comparative performances and stats, but if you think I’m missing something, or maybe some bias has slipped in, feel free to let me know on Twitter.
This week’s player picks are the last involving early nonconference games as we head into conference play.
So without further ado, here are my Week Three picks for SuperWest Players of the Week for Offense, Defense, and Special Teams as well as Offensive and Defensive Freshmen.
Offensive Player of the Week: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Penix Jr. threw for 397 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions on the day.
Defensive Player of the Week: Daiyan Henley, LB, WSU

He finished the matchup with 13 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Offensive Freshman of the Week: Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington

He ended the contest with six catches, 153 yards, and three touchdowns.
Defensive Freshman of the Week: Jaden Hicks, DB, WSU

Special Teams Nicholas Barr-Mira, K, UCLA

Barr-Mira was 4-4 kicking field goals on the day.
Honorable Mention
Offensive: Bo Nix (Oregon)
Defensive: Kitan Oladapo (Oregon State)
Special Teams: Anthony Gould (Oregon State)
