By Matt Norlander, CBS Sports: A player overcoming cancer to lead his school to its first NCAA Tournament in 16 years. That’s what is playing out in the Palouse, where Washington State freshman guard Myles Rice is the main feature to one of the best stories of the season.
Washington State — a program with paltry NCAA Tournament participation dating back to 1941; just six appearances, second-fewest among power conferences to Northwestern‘s two — is 18-6 and sits in second place in the Pac-12 after being picked 10th in the preseason.
